Psalm 13

I’m speaking on Psalm 13 soon.  Here is my translation (following the sage advice to be as literal as possible, as free as necessary):

Superinscription:  For the music leader.  A davidic song.

——

How long, Yahweh, will you ignore me?  Forever!?

How long will you continue to look past me?

How long must I worry; have anxiety consume me every day?

How long must my enemy rise up against me?

——

Look over here!  Answer me, Yahweh, my god!

Strengthen me or else I will slip off into death.

Or else my enemies will say, “I have snuffed him out!”

My enemies will rejoice because I am upended.

——-

But, I, yes, I have trusted in your fidelity

Let me rejoice in your salvation.

Let me sing to Yahweh because he has treated me rightly.
